synthesis, 2024.

“synthesis” was an interactive art installation that explores the relationship between human presence and technology, curated and funded by the Creative School. Created in collaboration with Angelina Almanza, Yves Al-Sharifi, Finch Assadoullaev, Mad Holl, Chau Nguyen, and May Yu (as a collective, we used to go by net:artificats. Now we’re known as machines of). My focus was on the project management, fabrication and set design of the work.

Sixteen sensors placed throughout the Rogers Communication Centre collect real-time data, which informs the video content in a window display on Yonge Street. As human traffic increases, the video shifts from industrial scenes to naturalistic footage, reflecting the vitality of human activity. At the centre of the installation, a resin heart filled with green liquid reacts to the data, symbolizing human biology’s often overlooked yet essential role in shaping the technological landscape.
